Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable person to support a Blind student on campus. The role combines sighted-guide support with accurate note-taking during taught sessions.
Start Date: 17th September 2026
Working during term times to match student timetable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide safe, confident sighted‑guide support around campus
- Assist with navigating buildings, pathways, entrances, and busy areas
- Maintain awareness of environmental hazards and ensure safe travel at all times
- Take clear, impartial notes in lectures, seminars and tutorials
- Communicate clearly and respectfully, adapting to the student’s preferred methods
- Uphold safeguarding standards, especially in relation to the student’s health needs
- Maintain professional boundaries and follow DSA support expectations
- Log provided support in line with DSA evidencing protocols
Requirements:
- Good communication skills and awareness of personal space
- Ability to remain attentive to surroundings and potential risks
- Strong written communication skills and ability to take clear, concise notes
- Understanding of safeguarding
- Experience with VI support, mobility assistance, or similar roles is advantageous
