We are looking for an experienced and motivated Driver Manager to join our growing logistics operation.
This is a hands-on management role responsible for the full driver lifecycle, from recruiting, interviewing and onboarding new drivers, issuing uniforms and equipment, and delivering training, through to day-to-day driver management, performance, welfare, attendance, investigations, disciplinaries, and ongoing development. You'll oversee our driver workforce across two depots, ensuring drivers are supported, managed effectively, and operating to the high standards expected by the business. Working closely with the Transport Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring the transport operation runs safely, efficiently, and compliantly.

You will manage drivers across both depots and be responsible for handling driver-related operational issues, absences, vehicle breakdowns, route escalations, and general driver support during your shift.
Travel between our Upper Heyford and Mansfield depots will be required, typically twice month, depending on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the lead Driver Manager for your designated depot.
- Support and work closely with the Transport Manager to deliver an efficient, compliant, and customer-focused transport operation.
- Manage the full driver lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, issuing uniforms and equipment, inductions, training, and ongoing development.

- Support driver welfare, engagement, and wellbeing.
- Recruit, interview, and onboard new drivers.
- Monitor driver performance, productivity, and driving standards.
- Manage operational driver issues, vehicle breakdowns, and route escalations.
- Maintain driver training standards and identify development needs.
- Ensure driver records, licences, CPC qualifications, and other compliance documentation remain up to date.
- Work closely with the Planning, Operations, and Transport teams to ensure adequate driver coverage and operational efficiency.
- Assist the Transport Manager with transport compliance, driver performance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the development, retention, and succession planning of drivers within the business.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience managing drivers within a transport, logistics, or home delivery environment.
- Strong people management and leadership skills.
- Experience handling disciplinaries, investigations, and absence management.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to make decisions quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- A full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Knowledge of Driver Hours and Working Time Regulations.
- Understanding of transport compliance requirements.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a confident and approachable leader who can build strong relationships with drivers, maintain high standards, deal with issues professionally, and take ownership of driver performance within their depot. You'll be a key support to the Transport Manager, helping to drive operational performance, improve driver engagement, and ensure our transport operation runs safely, efficiently, and compliantly.
If you're an organised, proactive manager who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment and enjoys leading teams, we'd love to hear from you.
