Bandrum Nursing Home
Bandrum Nursing Home is one of Scotland’s largest independent care homes, providing specialist adult and elderly care with 24-hour support in our purpose-built home set within 19 acres of beautiful grounds. With 88 beds across two buildings and seven specialist units, we are committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
We are now looking for a reliable, proactive Maintenance Assistant / Driver to join our team on a full-time basis, working 5 days per week on a 7-day rota (including weekends).
About the Role
Reporting to the Estates Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the home by supporting maintenance and transport services. This is a varied and hands-on role that is essential to the comfort, safety and wellbeing of our residents.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Carrying out general maintenance, repairs and preventative work across the home and grounds
- Supporting with upkeep of outdoor areas including gardens and patios
- Conducting routine safety checks (e.g. fire alarm testing)
- Undertaking driving duties as required
- Transporting residents to hospital appointments, outings and admissions/discharges
- Transporting visitors to and from the home
- Collecting and delivering prescriptions, samples, supplies and internal mail
- Maintaining the cleanliness and safety of vehicles
- Checking and managing daily transport schedules
- Reporting any maintenance issues, incidents or concerns
- Maintaining accurate records and supporting compliance with health & safety procedures
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in general maintenance (ideally including basic joinery and plumbing)
- In possession of a full, clean driving licence (with D1/minibus entitlement preferred)
- Reliable, organised and proactive
- Friendly, courteous and caring in approach to residents and families
- A strong team player with good communication skills
- Flexible and willing to support across a variety of tasks
- Professional in appearance with a positive, can-do attitude
