Cymru Quarry Group are suppliers of granite & limestone aggregates, asphalt, readymix concrete, liquid screed as well as construction services such as road resurfacing & civil engineering, operating all over Wales.
We supply quarried materials, stone, concrete, readymix and tarmac from seven granite, limestone and sandstone quarries, three asphalt plants, eight concrete plants. We also deliver multimillion pound infrastructure projects and suppling the majority of the labour as well as the materials from our own resources. Our employees are skilled in road surfacing, paving and utilities works.
Based in South Wales, operatives will be required to work safely and productively, producing high quality work. Principle Purpose of the Role:
You will be part of the Load & Haul Team of operatives on site in carrying out the safe operation of loading & hauling materials safely & effectively and assist when required in other operations when applicable.
Health and Safety:
- Complying with the company H&S roles & responsibilities & legislative requirements.
- Understanding the controls identified to safely manage the risks associated with the quarry activities.
- Ensure the safe operation of all mobile plant operations on site that you operate, complete the daily work place inspections for mobile & recording the inspection.
- Taking care of own H&S and that of others who might be affected by actions.
- Control and enforce high standards of best practice in all relevant areas and promote safe behaviour.
- Appropriate reporting of any near hits, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and incidents to Quarry Manager
- Work appropriately to the Quarry Regulations and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
- An understanding & contribute towards the Risk Assessment and Safe System of Work procedures and understanding of Permit requirements when needed.
General:
- Safe operation of company mobile plant.
- Work effectively as part of a team.
- Carry out & record daily inspections of mobile plant.
- Carry out manual labour-intensive tasks on site mobile or static plant subject to HIRA and SSOW when required.
- Liaise with Management Team and deliver to their expectations.
- The ability and knowledge to operate mobile plant on site to assist with running operations.
- The ability to operate any mobile plant if the appropriate training has been identified and in place to assist with the running operations.
- Flexibility to work at various locations in the business.
- Versatility to constant changing environments.
- Create a positive “can-do” team culture.
Essential:
- Working knowledge of production processes, H&S and Environmental policies.
- Ability to multitask and manage change.
- Experience in heavy plant operations (Training to be supplied by CQG).
- A flexible approach to working hours.
Desirable:
- Relevant training for role in hand.
- Availability of working weekends at times.
