We are now looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and passionate Sports Coach to join our growing coaching team, initially delivering after-school sports clubs within local primary schools.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, inclusive and enjoyable sports sessions for children, helping them develop their physical skills, confidence, teamwork and enjoyment of sport.
This role will initially focus on after-school club delivery, with the opportunity to increase hours throughout the academic year through additional school clubs, curriculum PE lessons, lunchtime clubs, holiday camps and other coaching opportunities.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with children and can create a positive, safe and fun environment for all participants.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
● Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging sports and physical activity sessions for primary-aged children.
● Deliver after-school sports clubs in a fun, energetic and inclusive environment.
● Adapt activities to suit different ages, abilities and confidence levels.
● Encourage children to participate, develop their skills and enjoy being physically active.
● Promote positive behaviours, teamwork, respect and sportsmanship.
● Ensure all sessions are delivered safely and effectively.
● Set up and pack away sports equipment before and after sessions.
● Take responsibility for the appropriate use and care of equipment.
● Maintain a positive and professional relationship with school staff, children and parents/carers.
● Follow all school and Future Stars Coaching safeguarding, health and safety and behaviour policies.
● Report any safeguarding, welfare or health and safety concerns through the appropriate channels.
● Take responsibility for maintaining accurate registers and attendance records where required.
● Communicate effectively with the wider coaching team and management.
● Represent Future Stars Coaching professionally when working within schools.
● Be punctual, reliable and well-prepared for every session.
● Contribute to the development and growth of the coaching programme where appropriate.
Opportunities to Increase Hours
The role will initially involve delivering an after-school club, but there is significant potential for additional hours as the academic year progresses.
Depending on availability, performance and the needs of our schools, additional opportunities may include:
● Curriculum PE lessons
● Lunchtime sports clubs
● Additional after-school clubs
● Breakfast clubs
● Holiday camps
● Sports events and competitions
● 1-to-1 or small-group coaching
● School mentoring and enrichment sessions
This makes the role particularly suitable for someone looking to build a regular coaching timetable and develop their experience within schools.
Essential Requirements
● Experience of coaching, teaching or working with children is desirable.
● A genuine passion for sport and physical activity.
● Confident and enthusiastic personality.
● Ability to engage and motivate primary-aged children.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
● Reliable, punctual and professional.
● Ability to work independently and take responsibility for delivering sessions.
● A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop.
● Relevant coaching qualifications are desirable but not essential, depending on experience.
Safeguarding & DBS
Because the role involves regular work with children in primary school settings, the successful applicant must have an appropriate DBS check.
If the successful applicant does not currently hold a suitable DBS check, they will be required to undertake a DBS check once their appointment has been confirmed and before commencing work in a school setting.
All coaches are expected to follow Future Stars Coaching safeguarding procedures and the safeguarding requirements of each school they work within.
