We have a fantastic opportunity for a QA & Technical Controller on a fixed term contract. Estimated term will be December 2026 until January 2028.
The role will be working full time Monday to Friday 08.30 to 17.00.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building, maintaining and updating all activities related to food safety, legality and quality. Ensuring the continuous running of the QA & Technical departments by the direct management of the Site Quality Managers, the Technical Manager ensuring the effective management of their teams.
An overview of the responsibilities:
- Ensuring all food safety, quality and legality aspects of production are adhered to
- Management of the Stateside Technical Strategy by ensuring measures are in place which work towards meeting targets
- Coordination/collaboration/liaison with various external organisations including laboratories, research organisations, local authority, contractors, third party auditors.
- Ensuring ongoing product testing programme of raw materials, intermediate and finished products
- Development and maintenance of new and existing system documents, procedures, processes and work instructions
- Guardian the Quality Management System
- Analysis of data and reports to drive departmental and business improvement plans following the identification of any trends
- Ensuring hold, non-conformance and concession system adhered to and authorised to release held stock materials and any associated destruction
- Harmonisation and integration of procedures and policies between Wingates, Firebird and, where applicable, Freiberger
- Business adherence to implemented audit schedules
- Ensuring all results are communicated to the business, actioned and preventative measures implemented
- Ensuring customer management
- Adherence to legislation and customer Codes of Practice/Guidelines
- Ensuring Supplier management
- Advisor of both Wingates and Firebird HACCP teams
- To perform other tasks which are of a reasonable request in line with the Quality & Technical Department.
- To obtain information in any area to assist with projects and investigations
- Audit and evaluate other business areas and raw material suppliers
- Referral to the Freiberger Head of Technical & Quality regarding Food Safety Incidents
Candidates should have experience within a food manufacturing/production environment at Technical/Quality Management level.
A degree within a food related discipline or equivalent with HACCP level 4 and management of a HACCP Team is required.
