This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the day-to-day operational management of the Surgical Directorate, supporting the delivery of high-quality patient services and ensuring the efficient use of outpatient clinic and theatre capacity. You will take ownership of waiting list validation and performance data, helping to drive service efficiency and support the achievement of key operational targets.
Working closely with the Assistant Service Manager, you will lead on a range of projects and service improvement initiatives, using data and insight to identify opportunities for change and deliver positive outcomes for patients and staff. You will collaborate with colleagues across the Directorate and wider Trust, building strong relationships to support innovation and continuous improvement.
This role is ideal for a motivated and proactive individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, leading improvements, and making a tangible impact on service delivery and patient experience.
The postholder is responsible for ensuring the directorate’s elective capacity is fully utilised and that effective booking processes are maintained and consistently followed. They will support the reduction of hospital-initiated appointment and treatment cancellations through proactive planning and service coordination.
The postholder will act as a point of escalation for day-to-day operational issues, resolving problems where possible and escalating more complex matters to senior management as required. They will ensure the office environment is organised, professional, and welcoming to staff, patients, and visitors.
In addition, they will lead on specific service improvement projects and support the development and implementation of initiatives that enhance service delivery, operational performance, and patient experience.
