Technical Project Lead – Property Damage & Restoration
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Location: Nationwide
Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility required for nationwide travel

The Role
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Technical Project Lead to join our team.
This is a senior technical role for someone with strong experience in property damage restoration, technical drying and complex claims. The role will combine hands-on technical support, management of larger and more complex claims, auditing, training and supporting the continued development of our drying and restoration services.
You will work closely with our operational teams, technicians, managers, clients and other contractors to ensure projects are technically sound, commercially controlled and delivered to a high standard.
The position will involve travelling nationwide to sites, particularly where additional technical input or project oversight is required.
Key ResponsibilitiesComplex & Large Loss Claims
- Take the technical lead on larger, complex or high-value water damage and restoration projects.
- Attend sites nationwide to complete technical assessments and determine the most appropriate drying and restoration strategy.
- Develop and review drying programmes, including conventional, pressure, injection and specialist drying techniques.
- Oversee projects from initial assessment through to drying completion where required.
- Review moisture mapping, monitoring data and drying performance to ensure the correct approach is being followed.
- Identify when enabling works, strip-out, asbestos works, specialist investigations or additional contractors are required.
- Provide technical guidance where claims are not progressing as expected and recommend corrective action.
- Produce clear technical reports and recommendations for clients and internal teams.
Technical Support
- Act as a senior technical point of contact for our drying technicians and operational teams.
- Provide advice on complex building materials, moisture behaviour, drying methods and equipment selection.
- Review proposed drying strategies and provide guidance where more specialist techniques may be appropriate.
- Support teams with unusual or technically challenging losses.
- Help ensure our approach remains in line with industry best practice and relevant standards.
Auditing & Quality
- Carry out regular audits of live and completed projects.
- Review technician reports, moisture readings, photographs, drying records and supporting documentation.
- Complete site-based technical audits to ensure works are being carried out correctly.
- Identify areas for improvement and work with operational management to implement changes.
- Support the development and maintenance of technical procedures, standards and best practice across the business.
- Monitor consistency across regional teams as the business continues to grow.
Training & Development
- Deliver technical training and coaching to drying technicians and other operational staff.
- Support the development of new and existing technicians through practical site-based training.
- Identify technical knowledge gaps and recommend additional training.
- Assist with competency assessments and ongoing technician development.
- Help develop internal training materials, technical guidance and standard operating procedures.
- Promote a strong culture of technical quality and continuous improvement.
Client & Project Management
- Attend meetings with insurers, loss adjusters, contractors and other stakeholders where technical input is required.
- Clearly explain drying strategies, technical decisions and recommendations.
- Support the business with technical input during client reviews and tender opportunities.
- Assist with resolving technical queries, complaints or disputed drying strategies.
- Ensure larger projects remain technically appropriate while considering programme, cost and customer requirements.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- BDMA qualification.
- Knowledge of PAS 64 and current industry standards and guidance.
- Strong technical drying and property damage restoration experience.
- Experience dealing with complex or large water and fire damage claims.
- Good understanding of building construction, materials and moisture behaviour.
- Strong knowledge of drying equipment and different drying techniques.
- Experience interpreting moisture readings and developing drying strategies.
- Ability to confidently assess projects and make technical decisions independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable delivering training and providing constructive feedback.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel nationwide and stay away from home when required.
