Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Complete day to day bookkeeping
- Identify and account for fixed assets (non-current assets) including asset finance
- Prepare and record depreciation calculations (manually and through software)
- Understand payroll, how to submit a payroll and record in the accounts of a company
- Record period end adjustments to include
- Produce and extend trial balance
- Produce full financial statements for sole traders and partnerships
- Understand chart of accounts for construction versus other industries
- Produce basic management accounts in our spreadsheet format
- Explain budget variations
- Produce simple cash management calculations
- Understand and apply VAT legislation – including all construction legislation
- Check and calculate VAT return
- Understand payroll principles and be able to post monthly payroll journal
Skills and Knowledge
A minimum of 2 years experience working in an accounting practice and a minimum of AAT Level 3 qualified.
- Good communication skills to be able to work directly with clients ensuring they understand what we require of them to be able to deliver our services to the best of our ability
- Good understanding of the technical aspects of the role to be able to apply accounting principles correctly and explain them to the clients where necessary
- Good organisation skills to work with multiple clients
- Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy to your work
- Self-motivated and able to work on your own and under pressure as well as work as part of a team
- Able to use own initiative to search out answers to own questions where possible
- Good knowledge of Xero and/or FreeAgent an advantage
Opportunity to train for AAT Level 4 once full competency at AAT Level 3 has been demonstrated, and 2 full years experience has been completed.
Pay: £25,850.00-£30,250.00 per year
