Briar is a West Country-focused small plates restaurant in Bruton, holding a Michelin Bib Gourmand and a place on the National Restaurant Awards Top 100 list.
We are recruiting an enthusiastic and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our team and support the smooth running of our kitchen while maintaining the high standards expected at Briar.
This is a part-time role of 20–30 hours per week, with flexibility in working hours to reflect the seasonal nature of the business and varying levels of trade.
Competitive hourly rate plus tronc payments.
The role reports to the Restaurant Manager and Chef-Founder.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment at all times.
- Washing dishes, cookware, utensils and kitchen equipment efficiently throughout service.
- Assisting with basic food preparation as directed by the kitchen team.
- Receiving, organising and storing deliveries in accordance with food safety standards.
- Ensuring bins are emptied, waste is correctly separated and disposal areas are kept clean and tidy.
- Cleaning kitchen surfaces, floors, storage areas and equipment in line with daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
- Supporting chefs during busy service periods to ensure the kitchen operates efficiently.
- Following all food hygiene, health and safety, and HACCP procedures.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or within a professional kitchen is preferred but not essential, as full training can be provided.
- A willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and support the wider kitchen team.
- A genuine interest in food, hospitality and maintaining high standards.
