Pay Rate: PAYE: £24.92 per hour
Job Responsibilities
The Project Manager will lead and deliver transformation projects across Cheshire East Council, improving services, reducing inefficiencies, and supporting new ways of working.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage complex projects from planning through to successful delivery
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet required outcomes
- Lead project teams and coordinate resources across different service areas
- Work with stakeholders, customers, and partners to define project requirements and deliver improvements
- Review and improve business processes to increase efficiency
- Identify and track project benefits, savings, risks, and issues
- Produce and maintain project documents, including plans, budgets, reports, risk logs, and progress updates
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior managers and project boards
- Manage project risks, issues, changes, and dependencies
- Use recognised project and change management methods to support delivery
- Act as the main contact for project stakeholders, partners, and suppliers
- Support the implementation of new systems, processes, and service improvements
- Ensure projects follow council governance, policies, and procedures
- Keep up to date with relevant local, regional, and national changes affecting projects
- Work across Cheshire East locations when required
Person Specification – Mandatory Requirements
Qualifications
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
- PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification or equivalent
Experience
- Significant experience managing projects from start to completion
- Experience delivering change, transformation, or business improvement projects
- Experience managing business redesign projects
- Experience working within a local authority or public sector environment
- Experience managing project plans, budgets, risks, issues, and reporting
- Experience using project management tools such as MS Project and Visio (or equivalent)
Knowledge
- Good understanding of project management and change management methods
- Knowledge of process improvement and business redesign
- Understanding of local authority structures, policies, and governance
- Understanding of data protection, confidentiality, and Freedom of Information requirements
Skills
- Strong project management and leadership skills
