Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking to appoint enthusiastic and motivated IMT3-level (or equivalent/higher) Resident Doctors to join our General Medicine workforce.
These posts have been developed to strengthen registrar-level clinical capacity across Medicine, offering broad exposure across multiple specialties within a supportive and dynamic environment.
Successful candidates will be appointed to one of several medical specialties, with 6-monthly placements and opportunities to gain experience across areas including: General Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Stroke Medicine, Cardiology & Respiratory Medicine.
All post-holders will participate in the General Medicine on-call rota (approximately 1:8 frequency), contributing to the acute medical take and supporting patient flow across the Trust. This is an excellent opportunity for doctors working at, or stepping up to, IMT3/Registrar level, looking to further develop leadership skills and gain experience managing acutely unwell and complex patients.
Lead and manage the acute medical take, assessing and treating acutely unwell adult patients in an emergency setting
Provide senior decision-making support for junior colleagues and contribute to safe patient flow
Take responsibility for ongoing care of complex medical patients within the assigned specialty
Lead ward rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary team input to ensure high-quality patient care
Liaise effectively with other specialties and support timely referrals and escalation
Contribute to teaching and supervision of junior medical staf
