We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mobile HGV Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) in various locations Within the North west This role requires a proactive approach to vehicle diagnostics and repairs, ensuring that all equipment operates safely and efficiently. The successful applicant will possess strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, along with experience in fabrication and welding, to deliver high-quality service on-site. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for vehicle maintenance and customer service. Start Location is Omega Park Warrington Working within the North west throughout the day or within our own yard at times
Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and diagnostics on HGVs to identify faults and necessary repairs
- Perform mechanical repairs including assembly, disassembly, and replacement of parts using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
- Carry out electrical repairs, including soldering, wiring, and interpreting schematics
- Fabricate or modify components as required to meet specific repair or maintenance needs
- Utilise heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts to assist with vehicle handling and repair tasks
- Maintain detailed records of work carried out using technical schematics and maintenance logs
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and industry standards
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repair status and recommendations
- Assist in the training of junior team members or apprentices when required
- Conduct preventative maintenance to minimise future breakdowns and extend vehicle lifespan
Skills
- Proven experience in heavy vehicle repair, ideally within an HGV environment
- Strong electrical experience with the ability to read schematics and perform soldering tasks
- Proficiency in fabrication, welding, and use of hand tools, power tools, and assembly techniques
- Mechanical knowledge of heavy machinery including excavators and forklifts
- Skilled in equipment repair, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting complex issues
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during repairs or parts replacement
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and diagnostics
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to vehicle repair sites and heavy machinery operation
