We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Street Lighting Construction Manager to lead the delivery of our street lighting maintenance and construction operations.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of projects that support local communities across County Durham.
Reporting to the Highways Manager, you will be responsible for managing resources, programming works, supervising staff and contractors, and ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer service.
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
As Street Lighting Construction Manager, you will:
- Plan, programme, coordinate, and monitor street lighting maintenance works.
- Manage operational staff, electricians, and subcontractors to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Identify resource requirements and develop project programmes to meet operational targets.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant contractual requirements, technical standards, and legislation.
- Oversee the accurate setting out and delivery of projects.
- Monitor financial performance and contribute to achieving value for money.
- Assist with tender preparation, pricing, contractual claims, and project variations.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, customers, utilities, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate project and site records are maintained.
- Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Support the development and training of staff and operatives.
- Manage vehicles, plant, and equipment under your control.
- Participate in a 1-in-4 out-of-hours rota, providing advice and support to on-call electricians.

WHAT WILL I NEED?
- City and Guilds Electrical Qualification
- City and Guilds 2391
- Level 4 / HNC Construction and building environment.
- HNC or equivalent/higher qualification in Electrical Engineering or in a closely related discipline
Experience
- Experience in the management and programming works of street lighting maintenance and construction.
- Experience in the application of Health and Safety legislation and procedures on street lighting works.
- Experience in Permitting requirements for construction works following procedures for application
