East Lancs Hospice
East Lancashire Hospice is a registered charity, founded in 1984. We support and care for patients with a life limiting illness, their families and others close to them. We provide this in a number of ways; at the hospice and in people’s own homes across our community of Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.
With approximately 120 employees and over 250 volunteers, our people are our biggest asset whom we value tremendously. Front of House Assistant
An exciting and new opportunity has arisen as part of the re-structure of our catering team, for a Front of House Assistant circa 20 hours flexibly over seven days with two days off, you will be required to work one weekend in three. Due to the nature of the organisation being a charity, the catering department is assisted through many of our wonderful volunteers and so this front of house assistant position will be different than your ‘everyday’ front of house role.
You will be responsible with assisting in the high quality of food and drink service in Café Retreat and to help support the smooth running of the catering department. Contribute and help maintain a high level of cleanliness in Café Retreat and key service areas that our customers have come to expect. You must have a friendly professional approach and help maintain high levels of customer care to encourage repeat custom. You will be actively encouraged to upsell specials and effectively communicate up and coming catering events to help the Hospice meet their income generation goals. Effective communication is essential to this post and you will remain professional when engaging in constructive feedback when dealing with our customers. Experience in processing money transactions is preferred but training will be given. You will contribute to coordinating a large team of staff and volunteers in a positive and encouraging style.
The Successful Candidate
The Hospice staff and volunteers are paramount to the success of the Hospice and therefore it is extremely important the successful applicant for this Front of House post has strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and approachable nature.
You will hopefully have experience in a similar position but training can be given to the right candidate. You should have an interest in food and drink service and be able to recognise good customer care. Strong hygienic practices and knowledge food safety management systems is beneficial but training can be given. You must ensure a high level of service is maintained whilst adopting our core values in everything you do.
