E.H. Hassell & Sons Ltd are a long-established family-owned business, now in its 52nd year of successful trading, and with divisions in heavy plant machinery hire & handling, parts & service, and specialist engineering.
Having been recently appointed as a licensed distributor for a large global heavy plant manufacturer, and with the business undergoing re-structuring to position ourselves for continued future success, we seek an enthusiastic Service & Parts Manager to help drive growth and development of the hire, parts & service elements of the business.
Working closely with, and as part of, the management team, to drive operational effectiveness, and alongside our marketing team, to drive sales growth, responsibilities of the role are:
Key Responsibilities:
Effective management of E.H. Hassell and Sons, service, hire and parts division, contributing significantly towards its performance and development.
- Lead the department's transformation into a high-performing, sales-focused team, growing revenue, margin and profitability year on year.
- Managing day-to-day effectiveness and development of Service and Parts Team (Asst. Service manager and parts co-ordinator).
- Working closely with our Yard Manager and Senior Engineers to build a responsive, skilled and adaptable field service team.
- Manage technical development of our heavy plant distributor agreement
- Work with the service engineering team to improve hire fleet turnaround and minimise customer equipment downtime.
- Ensure service, breakdown and parts enquiries are responded to promptly, won, and scheduled to meet customer expectations.
- Drive administration and customer service standards to deliver a market-leading customer experience.
- Oversee stock policy, parts ordering, equipment hire and invoicing accuracy, and tracking of centrally controlled equipment.
- Monitor and improve stock profiles, supplier performance and service van inventory.
- Work with the finance team to devise and provide regular reporting on department performance, financials and engineer hours, with recommendations for improvement.
- Agree marketing campaigns with the Head of Sales and Service/Marketing to promote the service/parts offering.
- Develop a training and development matrix for engineers and the yard supervisor with the Senior Service Engineer and Technical Manager.
Essential requirements
You will possess:
- Good sales & technical knowledge gained in hire /service / parts industry
- Strong organisational & prioritisation skills
- Strong customer focus
- Ability to liaise and communicate extensively with other business managers and senior team members
- A flexible and forward-thinking approach, consistently looking for ways in which to drive business improvement.
- Ability to take initiative and ownership of issues, with a proactive attitude towards resolution
