We have secured long-term contracts throughout our client base that has ensured our continued investment in our teams and services, and we are a growing business that cares for our people with the continued investment in their personal career development.
As interim HR Support, you will provide fixed-term maternity cover within REDS Group Ltd, supporting the delivery of a professional, responsive and compliant People and Culture service across our nationwide business.
This role will work closely with managers, employees, operational teams and senior leaders to provide practical HR support, maintain accurate employee records, assist with recruitment and onboarding, support employee relations matters, and help ensure our people processes remain consistent, legally compliant and aligned with REDS Group’s values, culture and commitment to employee development.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include, but not limited to:
· Provide day-to-day HR advice and guidance to REDS Group managers and employees on company policies, procedures, absence, conduct, performance, and general employment matters.
· Support employee relations processes, including sickness absence, disciplinary, grievance, capability, probationary and wellbeing matters, ensuring accurate documentation, fair process and appropriate escalation to the Head of People and Culture where required.
· Maintain employee records within PeopleHR and related HR files, ensuring information is accurate, up to date and managed in accordance with UK GDPR and REDS Group’s data protection requirements.
· Support recruitment activity across office, operational, environmental, construction and field-based roles, including job adverts, interview coordination, offer documentation, right to work checks and onboarding arrangements.
· Coordinate new starter processes, including contracts, pre-employment checks, induction arrangements, mandatory training, PeopleHR set-up, SharePoint documentation and liaising with line managers, IT and relevant departments.
· Prepare HR letters, contract variations, policy documents, meeting notes and employee correspondence to a professional and consistent standard.
· Support monthly payroll administration by collating and checking relevant changes, including starters, leavers, salary changes, overtime, deductions, absence information and other employee updates.
· Maintain training, induction and compliance records, supporting managers to ensure role-specific training, health and safety inductions, and other mandatory requirements are completed.
· Support employee engagement, culture, wellbeing and communication initiatives that help REDS Group maintain a positive, inclusive and high-performing working environment.
· Assist with HR reporting, audits and compliance activities, including absence trends, headcount data, probation tracking, training records and people metrics.
· Contribute to the continuous improvement of our HR processes, templates, onboarding materials, and ways of working across the People and Culture function.
Skills and Experience
· Previous experience in an HR Generalist, HR Advisor, HR Officer or similar role, ideally within a growing, multi-site or operational business.
· Good working knowledge of UK employment law, employee relations processes and HR best practice.
· Experience supporting managers with practical HR queries and applying policies fairly and consistently.
· Strong administration, organisational and record-keeping skills with excellent attention to detail.
· Confident communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with office-based, operational and field-based colleagues.
· Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism, discretion and sound judgement.
· Experience using HR systems, with PeopleHR experience desirable, and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and SharePoint.
· Ability to prioritise a varied workload, work independently, respond to changing business needs and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
· An understanding of working environments where health, safety, compliance and employee competence are critical would be advantageous.
Qualifications
CIPD Level 3 qualification, or equivalent practical HR experience, is desirable.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate sound HR judgement, a proactive and organised approach, and the ability to support managers and employees in a professional, fair and confidential manner. Experience within construction, environmental services, facilities management, engineering, or another operational sector would be beneficial but is not essential.
