Trainee Health & Safety Advisor

Salary £28,000 to £30,000 per annum
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Trainee Health and Safety Advisor based in the Western Isles. This is an excellent opportunity to develop a career in health and safety while contributing to the wellbeing of our workforce and communities.
In this newly created role, you will support the delivery of health and safety initiatives, assist with risk assessments and audits, and help ensure compliance with relevant legislation. Working closely with experienced advisers, you will gain hands-on training, develop practical skills, and work towards professional qualifications in health and safety.
This position is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in promoting a positive safety culture.
You will work as part of a small but experienced team with the opportunity to learn and develop across a diverse range of operational risk areas and crucially have the ability to make a positive impact.
The role will be an operationally focused role supporting the teams across our sites and vessels. It will be a diverse role providing a challenging and rewarding environment.
Who are we looking for?
To be successful in this role, you must be able to work as part of a small team, whilst independently and proactively completing tasks. We are looking for a problem solver with a can do attitude and experience of creation and delivery of practical, human centred solutions. Travel throughout the Western Isles and further afield will be required.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
Qualification/Skills/Experience:
- Full UK Driver’s Licence
- Audit qualifications or experience would be advantageous
- Working towards or willing to complete NEBOSH General Certificate and other health and safety related training
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Interpersonal skills to build rapport with stakeholders
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Good problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices would be advantageous
- Ability to use computer software systems
