We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and experienced RVN to join our friendly and supportive team as Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious RVN who is ready to develop their leadership skills while continuing to provide exceptional patient and client care.
The role
Working alongside our Head Veterinary Nurse and wider clinical team, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the nursing team. You will help lead, motivate and develop colleagues while maintaining the highest standards of patient welfare and clinical care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Head Veterinary Nurse with the leadership and management of the nursing team
- Providing clinical guidance, support and mentoring to RVNs, SVNs and patient care assistants
- Promoting excellent standards of nursing care, anaesthesia, inpatient care and theatre practice
- Helping with staff development, training and clinical coaching
- Supporting efficient clinical workflows and maintaining high standards of hygiene and infection control
- Assisting with stock management, equipment and practice protocols
- Working collaboratively with vets, reception and the wider practice team
- Deputising for the Head Veterinary Nurse when required
- Continuing to provide outstanding, compassionate care to patients and their owners
About you
We are looking for someone who is:
- A Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
- Experienced in small-animal practice
- Confident, organised and able to lead by example
- Passionate about high standards of patient care
- A supportive and approachable team player
- Keen to mentor and develop others
- Able to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients
- Looking for an exciting opportunity to progress into a senior leadership role
Previous leadership or senior nursing experience would be advantageous, but not essential, however the right attitude and personal qualities are.
