Little Rascals Private Day Nurseries are seeking a committed, child‑centred SEND Support Practitioner to join our team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about inclusive practice, early intervention, and supporting children with emerging or identified additional needs.
About the Role
The SEND Support Practitioner will work closely with the nursery SENCO, room leaders, and families to ensure children with SEND or emerging needs receive high‑quality, consistent support. You will champion inclusive practice across the setting and help create an environment where every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for children with SEND or emerging developmental needs.
- Work collaboratively with the SENCO, external professionals, and families to implement targeted strategies.
- Support children with communication and language needs, including Makaton, visual supports, OOR, PECS, and personalised routines.
- Contribute to Early Help, CIN, or multi‑agency plans where required.
- Assist in creating and reviewing Individual Support Plans, observations, and progress trackers.
- Deliver high‑quality interactions that promote emotional regulation, confidence, and independence.
- Adapt the learning environment to ensure accessibility and inclusion for all children.
- Attend relevant training, including neurodevelopmental workshops and SEND CPD.
- Model inclusive practice to the wider staff team and contribute to staff development where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with nursery policy and statutory guidance.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting children with SEND in an early years setting.
- A strong understanding of the EYFS, inclusive practice, and early intervention.
- Confidence using communication aids and visual supports.
- A calm, nurturing, and reflective approach.
- Excellent communication skills with children, families, and professionals.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow guidance from the SENCO and management.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
