Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire Door Carpenter to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining fire-rated doors and related components to ensure safety compliance across various building projects. Your expertise will help create secure environments by ensuring fire doors are properly fitted, functional, and compliant with safety standards. Duties
- Install, adjust, and repair fire-rated doors in accordance with building codes and safety regulations
- Measure, cut, assemble, and fit door frames, hinges, locks, and seals using hand tools and power tools
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to ensure precise installation
- Conduct inspections of fire doors for proper operation, security features, and compliance with fire safety standards
- Perform fabrication of door components when necessary to meet project specifications
- Coordinate with other trades such as electrical, plumbing, masonry, or roofing teams to ensure seamless integration of fire doors within the building structure
- Maintain detailed records of work performed and report any issues or discrepancies promptly
Skills
- Requirements
- Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry – Blue CSCS Card required.
- Own tools required.
- Own reliable vehicle required for travelling to different job sites.
- Previous experience in carpentry is required.
- Experience with fire doors / fire door maintenance is preferred.
- Extensive experience in carpentry and construction work with a focus on fire door installation and maintenance
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools essential for precise cutting, fitting, and assembly
- Knowledge of schematics and technical drawings for accurate project execution
- Familiarity with welding, fabrication techniques, electrical systems, plumbing, roofing, plastering, masonry, and construction painting is a plus
- Ability to interpret building codes related to fire safety standards
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and compliance requirements in construction environments
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail to ensure quality workmanship
