The Role
We are seeking an ambitious and proactive Conveyancing Paralegal to join our busy Property Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in residential and commercial property law while working alongside experienced solicitors on a varied and high-quality caseload.
The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting fee earners throughout the conveyancing process, from initial instruction through to post-completion.
Applicants should have a minimum of one year’s conveyancing experience and be confident managing a broad range of administrative and legal tasks within a busy department.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting solicitors with residential and commercial conveyancing transactions from instruction through to post-completion.
- Opening new files, carrying out client onboarding, identity verification and anti-money laundering checks.
- Preparing draft contracts, transfer deeds, completion statements and other legal documentation.
- Ordering and reviewing property searches.
- Preparing and submitting HM Land Registry applications.
- Drafting and submitting SDLT returns.
- Raising and responding to pre-contract enquiries.
- Reviewing title documents and preparing reports for fee earners.
- Liaising with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, brokers and other solicitors.
- Requesting redemption statements and coordinating mortgage funds.
- Preparing completion packs and assisting with exchange and completion.
- Undertaking post-completion work, including registrations at HM Land Registry and file closures.
- Maintaining accurate case management records and ensuring compliance with SRA, CQS and firm procedures.
- Delivering a high standard of client care throughout every transaction.
Requirements
- Minimum 2:1 Law degree (LLB or equivalent).
- A minimum of one year’s experience in a residential or commercial conveyancing role.
- Good understanding of the conveyancing process from instruction through to post-completion.
- Familiarity with HM Land Registry applications, SDLT submissions and property searches.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and client care skills.
- Ability to manage a busy workload and work effectively as part of a team.
- Experience using legal case management systems is desirable.
