JamesB Hair is growing, and we are looking for experienced stylists who want to join our team. Do you want to produce excellent work in a salon with clear standards, modern systems and genuine opportunities to progress whilst having fun?
We are an established independent salon in Bedminster, Bristol. Our work is consultation-led, inclusive and focused on thoughtful cutting, healthy colour and hair that works for the individual wearing it.
We price services according to time, length and density rather than gender. Our consultation process, service timings, online booking and client policies are designed to create clear expectations and protect the quality of the work.
The atmosphere is warm and we love to have a laugh, but our approach is professional. We communicate clearly, invest in training and expect every team member to contribute to the success of the salon.
The position
You will:
- Deliver confident, detailed client consultations.
- Provide consistently high-quality cutting, styling and/or colour services.
- Give useful home-care advice and take responsibility for rebooking and client retention.
- Keep accurate client notes, technical records and colour formulas.
- Maintain a clean, prepared and professional working environment.
- Participate in technical education, team meetings and salon development.
- Work towards clear, realistic service, client-retention and retail targets.
- Help create photographs and occasional content that accurately represents your work.
You do not need to specialise in every area of hairdressing. We are interested in hearing what you do particularly well and where you would like to develop next.
Experience with curls, coils and a broad range of hair textures is welcomed. More importantly, you must be willing to continue learning and become confident working with a genuinely diverse clientele.

About you
You will ideally have:
- An NVQ Level 2, Level 3 or equivalent hairdressing qualification.
- Professional salon-floor experience.
- Strong consultation and communication skills.
- A reliable, organised and team-minded approach.
- Sound technical judgment and attention to detail.
- An interest in continuing education and professional development.
- The confidence to take responsibility for your clients, your working area and your results.
This is a role for someone who wants structure, accountability and room to progress. It may not suit someone looking simply to rent a chair and operate separately from the wider salon.
