Spire Cardiff Hospital is looking for a motivated and reliable Porter to join our hardworking Portering team on a permanent basis.

About the Role
As a Porter, you will support the day-to-day operations of the hospital by providing an efficient and professional portering service across multiple departments.
At Spire, you'll work in a modern, patient-focused environment where quality and care come first.
This is a varied and active role where no two days are the same. You'll work with patients, visitors, clinical teams and support services across the hospital, helping ensure the right equipment, supplies and resources are available when needed.
The role involves being on your feet for much of the day and undertaking physical tasks as part of supporting the smooth operation of hospital services.
You'll be trusted to respond promptly to requests, use your initiative and contribute positively to the wider team.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Transfer and guide patients safely throughout the hospital in a caring and professional manner
- Transport clinical equipment, medical supplies and essential items between departments
- Collect and dispose of domestic and clinical waste in accordance with hospital procedures
- Maintain clean, safe and organised working areas
- Respond promptly to portering requests across the hospital
- Support departments with operational and facilities-related activities
- Follow all health and safety, infection prevention and moving and handling procedures
- Report maintenance issues, hazards or faults as appropriate
- Deliver a professional and courteous service to patients, visitors and colleagues
Who we're looking for:
Contract: Permanent
Days/Hours: Part Time – 30 hours per week. Rotating shifts Monday to Sunday, including days, nights and weekends. Typical shift patterns include 06:00–14:00, 14:00–22:00 and 22:00–06:00.
- Previous hospital portering experience is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills and a professional approach
- Friendly, approachable and committed to delivering outstanding customer service
- Flexible approach to shift work, including evenings, nights and weekends
- Committed to maintaining patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality
- Able to undertake the physical requirements of the role, including prolonged periods of walking, moving equipment, pushing beds and trolleys, and supporting patient transfers in line with safe moving and handling procedures
- Previous healthcare experience is beneficial
