As a Casual Hospitality Assistant, you'll be at the heart of our customer experience, working across our bars, cafés and hospitality areas. Whether you're serving drinks, preparing food, assisting with merchandise sales or supporting VIP and backstage hospitality, you'll play an important role in ensuring every customer receives outstanding service.

About the role:
The Hexagon Theatre hosts busy events that attract a diverse range of audience members who enjoy excellent customer service, as well as freshly prepared, homemade food, and great quality drinks - all delivered by a team of dedicated and enthusiastic individuals.
We are looking to add a few new members to our friendly and supportive team and would welcome anyone from a hospitality or catering background, with a passion for theatre, or hosting audiences at live events.

As a member of the Hospitality Team, you will:
- Preparing and serving hot and cold drinks, food and merchandise.
- Assisting with the setup and replenishment of bars and food service areas.
- Providing friendly, professional customer service in a busy event environment.
- Supporting corporate hospitality events, backstage catering and special functions.
- Working as part of a wider team across Reading Arts venues when required.
- Be comfortable and confident working in a fast paced and highly dynamic environment that serves and sells alcohol.
- Maintain hospitality areas; keeping them clean, tidy and compliant with food safety standards.
- Handling cash and taking card payments using our touchscreen till system (full training provided) and process orders placed online.
What we’re looking for:
- A positive, customer-focused attitude.
- Confidence working with members of the public.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork skills and willingness to learn.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Previous bar, catering or hospitality experience is desirable, but not essential as full training will be provided. Minimum age 18 to be able to operate equipment.
This role offers flexible casual hours and is ideal for those looking to gain experience in hospitality, events and customer service. Shifts are available across evenings, weekends, Bank Holidays and event days.
About you:
A rota system offers shifts when there are events, and you must tell us in advance of any shifts you would not be available for. Most shifts will commence at around 6.00pm and last approximately 3-4 hours.
On weekends there can be matinee performances that start earlier. Some weekend work is required but you will not be expected to work them all.
