Due to an internal promotion, we have an exciting new vacancy for an experienced hands-on Assistant Hotel Manager to join our team and assist the Hotel Manager in running all aspects of day-to-day operations. As the Assistant Hotel Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth operational delivery and have a genuine passion for exceptional customer service. You will be a motivated and enthusiastic leader, committed to assisting with the hotel’s success.
The Hotel:
Central Hotel in Norwich is relatively small in scale, with approximately 16 guest rooms, giving it a more friendly, guesthouse-style feel rather than that of a large chain hotel. The hotel is located in the heart of Norwich city, just a 2-3 minute walk from Norwich Train Station along the scenic River Wensum.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assist in managing all operational aspects of general hotel services, ensuring all functions run efficiently.
- Ensure the highest standards of customer service are maintained throughout the hotel, fostering guest satisfaction and encouraging repeat business.
- Assist in supporting front-of-house and back-of-house teams, including liaising with reception, night porters and housekeepers.
- Address guest complaints and issues promptly and professionally, ensuring a satisfactory resolution in line with company standards.
- Ensure excellent guest experiences.
- Uphold health and safety standards and ensure departments are compliant in line with company policy.
- Support the Hotel Manager in running all aspects of day-to-day operations, including ad-hoc projects and strategic priorities as required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within the hospitality or leisure industry, with a solid understanding of hotel operations.
- A people-first leader who brings energy, positivity and a hands-on approach to management.
- Highly organised and proactive, with the ability to juggle priorities and stay calm under pressure in a busy, guest-focused environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Organised with great attention to detail and a passion for delivering exceptional service.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by the business.
This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, enjoys being on the ground, leading from the front and making a tangible difference every day - someone who thrives on variety, people interaction and keeping things running at their best.
