Established in 2003, Acorn Brewery has become one of South Yorkshire’s top breweries. Our passion lies in crafting award-winning cask ales with character, tradition, and innovation. Our flagship ale, Barnsley Bitter, is brewed using the original Barnsley Brewery yeast strain dating back to the 1800s.
Role Overview:
We’re looking for a passionate and skilled Brewer to join our team and be hands-on in every stage of the brewing process. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about traditional ale, committed to quality, and excited to contribute to a creative and evolving beer range
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in all aspects of brewing: from raw material handling and brewing to fermentation, racking, and cleaning.
- Ensure adherence to our high-quality standards and consistency across all core and seasonal beers.
- Monitor and manage fermentation, including gravities, temperatures, and dry hopping where appropriate.
- Operate and maintain brewing equipment, including brewhouse, fermenters, racking lines
- Maintain accurate brewing and cleaning records
- Contribute to recipe development
- Assist with packaging
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Occasionally represent the brewery at events, festivals, or tap takeovers.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- 5 years experience in a commercial brewery environment (ideally cask ale focused).
- A solid understanding of the brewing process, cleaning protocols, and beer styles.
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy items and work in a manual, active environment.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in cleanliness and hygiene.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexible and willing to take on varied tasks as part of a small team.
Desirable:
- Formal brewing qualifications (e.g., IBD or equivalent).
- Forklift licence.
- Knowledge of cellar management or beer dispense (bonus!).

Pay: £26,500.00-£32,000.00 per year
