This is a hands‑on role in a friendly, fast‑paced pub where great service, teamwork, and consistency matter. Responsibilities
- Deliver a warm welcome and outstanding customer service throughout each guest’s visit
- Prepare and serve a full range of drinks, including cocktails, beers, wines, and soft drinks
- Restock supplies and monitor stock levels to ensure smooth operation during shifts
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic bar area
- Keep all areas of the premises in a clean, safe, and hygienic condition at all times
- Check customer identification and ensure all licensing laws are followed
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately and operate the POS system confidently
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth, timely service
- Assist with organising events or special functions when needed
- Support kitchen operations when the chef is away or on leave — training will be provided
- Attend regular training sessions to develop bar and kitchen skills
- Carry out opening and closing duties as required
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, professionalism, and a willingness to go above and beyond
- Provide contactable references
- Supervisory experience is an advantage, though not essential
Experience
- Experienced in hospitality (preferred but not essential)
- Interested in developing leadership or supervisory skills
- Knowledge of food safety standards and responsible alcohol service is desirable
- Experience with meal preparation or kitchen activities can be beneficial for supporting food-related duties
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential
- Friendly, approachable, and confident with customers
- High‑energy, proactive, and willing to go the extra mile when needed
- Able to stay calm and organised during busy periods
- Willing to learn kitchen procedures and attend regular training
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service
