We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Physiotherapist to join our wellness centre and play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred physiotherapy services.
This is a senior, self-employed position for an experienced physiotherapist who is confident working independently, managing their own patient caseload, and providing clinical leadership and support to the wider physiotherapy team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for completing and managing their own patients from assessment through to treatment and rehabilitation, while also acting as the Lead Physiotherapist within the centre. They will be available to support and guide other physiotherapists where required, helping to maintain consistently high standards of clinical practice, patient safety and professionalism.
Due to the seniority and additional leadership responsibilities of this position, the remuneration split will be 65% to the physiotherapist / 35% to the wellness centre.
We are looking for someone with 10+ years of professional physiotherapy experience, substantial clinical experience, and a recognised qualification in acupuncture.
The role offers flexibility, with working hours agreed around the needs of the physiotherapist and the centre. We aim for the Lead Physiotherapist to work approximately 4–5 days per week, providing a consistent senior presence within the centre.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and complete your own patient caseload, providing high-quality physiotherapy assessments, treatments and rehabilitation programmes.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualised treatment plans based on clinical findings, patient goals and best practice.
- Monitor patient progress and adapt treatment plans where clinically appropriate.
- Provide physiotherapy services across a broad range of presentations and patient populations.
- Apply strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology to support effective clinical decision-making.
- Maintain accurate, timely and professional clinical records and documentation.
- Communicate clearly with patients, ensuring they understand their diagnosis, treatment options, rehabilitation programme and ongoing management.
- Provide compassionate, patient-centred care and maintain a high standard of professionalism at all times.
Lead Physiotherapist Responsibilities
- Act as the clinical lead for physiotherapy services within the wellness centre.
- Provide guidance, support and clinical assistance to other physiotherapists when required.
- Be available to discuss complex cases and provide professional input where another physiotherapist requires additional support.
- Promote consistency in clinical standards, treatment approaches, patient communication and documentation across the physiotherapy team.
- Lead by example and encourage a collaborative, supportive and professional working environment.
- Support the Wellness Centre Owner in developing and maintaining best-practice standards and clinical procedures.
- Assist with the development of appropriate physiotherapy policies, procedures and working practices.
- Support the Wellness Centre Owner with the recruitment and selection of physiotherapists and other relevant clinical team members, including contributing to interviews, reviewing candidates and assessing clinical suitability.
- Assist with onboarding and supporting new physiotherapists to ensure they understand the centre's expectations, procedures and standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve patient care, clinical services and the overall patient experience.
Acupuncture & Clinical Safety
As the successful candidate must be qualified in acupuncture, they will be expected to deliver acupuncture treatment within their scope of practice and ensure that appropriate clinical safety procedures are followed.
The Lead Physiotherapist will also help ensure that all physiotherapists providing acupuncture within the centre follow appropriate infection prevention, sharps management and safe disposal procedures.
This includes ensuring that:
- Appropriate single-use needles and clinical equipment are used where required.
- Sharps are disposed of immediately and safely into appropriate approved sharps containers.
- Clinical waste is handled and disposed of in accordance with applicable regulations and the centre's procedures.
- Acupuncture areas and equipment are maintained to an appropriate standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Any incidents, needlestick injuries or concerns relating to acupuncture safety are reported promptly and managed appropriately.
- All acupuncture treatment is delivered by appropriately qualified practitioners and within their professional scope of practice.
The Lead Physiotherapist will take a proactive role in identifying and addressing any concerns regarding acupuncture safety or clinical practice.
Experience & Qualifications
The successful candidate must have:
- A minimum of 10 years' professional physiotherapy experience.
- A recognised physiotherapy qualification and appropriate professional registration.
- A recognised acupuncture qualification.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology and clinical assessment.
- Confidence managing an independent patient caseload.
- Experience treating a diverse range of patient presentations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to confidently support, mentor and guide other physiotherapists.
- A strong understanding of professional standards, patient safety, clinical documentation and best practice.
- A commitment to continuing professional development.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a wider clinical team.
Working Arrangement
This is a self-employed position, offering flexibility and autonomy over working hours while maintaining a consistent presence within the centre.
- Expected commitment: approximately 4–5 days per week
- Hours: flexible by agreement, based around patient demand and the physiotherapist's availability

- The Lead Physiotherapist will work closely with the Wellness Centre Owner on recruitment, clinical standards, best practice and development of the physiotherapy service.

Pay: £36.00-£39.00 per hour
