Site Manager – Office Refurbishment

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee day-to-day operations on a high-profile office refurbishment project in Richmond. You will be responsible for ensuring quality delivery, maintaining safe working practices, coordinating with all trades and consultants, and managing site logistics throughout the project duration.
This is a key position requiring strong leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to health and safety excellence. You will report directly to the Project Manager and serve as the primary point of contact on-site for all operational matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall site supervision and day-to-day operational management
- Health and safety compliance, risk management, and site safety inspections
- Quality assurance of all works in accordance with specifications and drawings
- Coordination and supervision of all contractors, subcontractors, and trades
- Site induction, toolbox talks, and team briefings
- Progress monitoring, record-keeping, and site-based reporting
- Site security, logistics, and housekeeping management
- Materials and plant management on site
- Liaison with client, consultants, and local authorities
- Snagging, defect identification, and resolution
- Site documentation, inspection records, and compliance filing
- Budget awareness and cost control at site level
- Environmental and waste management
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years' site management experience in commercial office fit-out or refurbishment projects
- Proven track record managing teams on London-based projects
- SMSTS qualification (essential)
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification preferred
- First Aid at Work certification (essential)
- Strong understanding of construction health and safety legislation and best practice
- Experience with site safety documentation and compliance procedures
- Formal construction or site management qualification (NVQ, BTEC, HNC, or equivalent)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Good IT skills (Microsoft Office, email, site management software)
Desirable
- Experience with fit-outs in occupied buildings
- Knowledge of WELL Building Standard and/or BREEAM certification requirements
- BIM software familiarity
- Proficiency with site management systems or project management software
- Mechanical plant or MEP systems experience
