Join STS Group as our next Design Manager in Slough
We are a well-established engineering contractor, working on complex and exciting construction projects in the UK and locations across Europe. We are working on data centre projects across the UK and Europe, with a healthy pipeline of work booked in.
The Opportunity
Our new Design Manager will support the team by overseeing the technical design, engineering, and coordination of our GC2 and MEP packages of work. We're looking for someone to play a pivotal role in the successful design and delivery of one of the most complex and high-profile projects in our portfolio - based from our project team office in Slough. Stage 5 Design will be completed by multi-disciplinary design partner teams (Civils, Steel , Structural, Electrical and Mechanical).
Here are some of the key duties of this role:
- Manage scope-of-work, design budget and contract documents for each project, taking full responsibility for the design coordination within the project;
- Follow and update design delivery schedule and distribute workload within team;
- Coordinate and optimize design with multi-disciplinary team and external parties;
- Lead and challenge design solutions and changes;
- Support the teams in the resolution of design related issues in a timely manner, ensuring there are no delays to the construction and fit-out process.
- Identify and manage risk from drawings, specifications, programme and procurement.
- Create and communicate innovative ideas and designs to client and team.
Key Qualifications Required:
- Master's degree (or at least Bachelors) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering;
- 5+ years of experience managing multidisciplinary design, engineering, and construction projects, preferably in data centres or other relevant sectors;
- Excellent working proficiency with BIM/REVIT
- Good knowledge of standard practices in the design and construction industry, and a good understanding of the daily (operational) business of clients;
- Must have valid UK working authorisation.
Desirable
- Proficient using Procore
- Experience working on a variety of mission critical projects
