Yard Operative
Location: 565 Manchester Road, Astley, M29 7BQ.
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £16 per hour plus overtime.
Hours: 8am to 5pm.
About the Role
We are currently looking for a Yard Operative to join our busy waste management and recycling operation. This is a hands-on role supporting the safe, efficient, and tidy running of our yard and vehicle movements.
You will play a key part in keeping our site organised, compliant, and presentable, working closely with drivers and operational staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Organising and controlling the safe movement and parking of vehicles, including HGVs
- Assisting drivers with yard access and positioning
- Washing and cleaning HGVs, plant, and equipment
- Container maintenance, including cleaning, basic repairs, and painting of skips and containers
- Keeping the yard clean, tidy, and free from hazards at all times
- Supporting general yard operations as required
- Adhering to all health & safety procedures and site rules
About You
- Reliable, hardworking, and physically fit.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Able to work safely around moving vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Good awareness of health and safety.
- Previous experience in a yard, waste, recycling, logistics, or industrial environment is desirable but not essential.
- Yard Shunter, Banksman or plant tickets (FLT, Telehandler.) are an advantage but not required.
