Mobile Service Engineer
Location: Bedford
Are you an experienced Diesel Mechanic with a passion for keeping heavy plant equipment running at its best? Do you enjoy working independently, solving technical problems, and delivering excellent customer service?
We're looking for a Mobile Service Engineer to join our growing team. In this field-based role, you'll be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy plant equipment, with a particular focus on telehandlers, ensuring our customers' equipment remains safe, reliable and ready for hire.
What you'll be doing
As a Mobile Service Engineer, you'll spend your time visiting customer sites, carrying out planned servicing on a range of plant equipment. You'll play a key role in minimising equipment downtime while providing a first-class service to our customers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Servicing heavy plant machinery at customer sites and within the depot when required.
- Ensuring all equipment is maintained to a high standard and remains fit for hire.
- Recording all work completed, including time, parts used and supporting photographs, using an iPad.
- Maintaining your company van, tools and stock to a high standard.
- Following all company policies, procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
- Providing exceptional customer service and representing the business professionally at all times.
What we're looking forEssential
- Qualified Diesel Mechanic.
- Full UK driving licence with no more than 3 penalty points.
- Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy plant equipment.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Excellent communication skills with a professional and customer-focused approach.
- Good spoken and written English.
- A positive attitude with the willingness to go the extra mile for customers and colleagues.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 in Plant Maintenance.
- Broad knowledge of a range of plant equipment.
- CSCS Card.
- Experience using iPad technology to record maintenance activities.
- JCB servicing qualification.
