We're working with a specialist SEN school in the Heamoor, Cornwall area that is looking for dedicated SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistants to join its team. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), with a particular focus on Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication needs, and associated behavioural challenges.
The setting provides a nurturing, trauma-informed learning environment for pupils who may have struggled in mainstream education. Staff work closely with each learner to build positive relationships, improve emotional wellbeing, develop confidence, and help pupils achieve both academically and personally.
As an SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant, you'll provide tailored support on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping pupils access learning, regulate their emotions, develop social skills, and build independence within a safe and supportive environment.
While previous experience supporting children with SEN or SEMH is highly valued, the school is also keen to hear from enthusiastic, reliable and compassionate individuals who are eager to develop their skills within specialist education.

The ideal Teaching Assistant will:
- Have experience supporting children or young people with SEN, SEMH or additional needs in a school, care or community setting (desirable but not essential)
- Be confident working on a 1:1 basis and with small groups
- Be patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships with pupils
- Be confident supporting pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and communication needs
- Be flexible and proactive in responding to a range of learning and behavioural challenges
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, families and external professionals
- Be able to work 8:30am – 4:00pm
