Chef de Partie – The Monk, Quorn
£28,000 per year + approximately £5,000 in tips | Full-time | 5 days a week
The Monk in Quorn is looking for an experienced and ambitious Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team.
We're a modern British restaurant focused on quality ingredients, well-executed food and a great guest experience. We're continuing to develop our menu, our kitchen and the business, and we're looking for someone who wants to be part of that journey.
You'll be joining a kitchen team of four full-time chefs, working alongside our Head Chef in a professional, supportive environment where standards matter and good ideas are welcomed.
5 day working week
You'll work five days a week, giving you a genuine opportunity to have a good balance between work and life outside the kitchen. At the moment the shifts are Tuesday to Friday and Sunday.
A proper afternoon break
We prep in the morning, then have a long break in the afternoon before returning for evening service at 5pm. This gives you time to go home, relax, eat properly or simply switch off before service.
A sensible evening finish
Evening service starts at 5pm, with last orders at 9:15pm and the kitchen finishing at around 10:30pm on average. We're not a late-night operation, giving you a more predictable finish than many restaurant kitchens.
Mostly booked guests
Our service is predominantly made up of bookings, allowing the kitchen to prepare properly and deliver a consistent experience rather than constantly reacting to unpredictable walk-in trade.
A team, not a revolving door
You'll be working alongside three other full-time chefs. We value teamwork, communication and creating a kitchen where people enjoy coming to work.
The food
Our style is modern British cuisine, built around good ingredients, flavour and thoughtful presentation.
We're continually looking at how we can improve and develop what we offer, so we're looking for a chef who takes pride in their food and wants to contribute rather than simply turn up, cook and go home.
The role
As Chef de Partie, you'll be responsible for running your section to a consistently high standard.
You'll be involved in:
- Morning preparation and mise en place
- Running your section during service
- Cooking and presenting dishes to a high standard
- Working closely with the Head Chef, Sous Chef and Senior Chef de Partie
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and cleanliness
- Managing stock and minimising waste

- Helping maintain a calm, organised and professional kitchen

We're looking for someone who:
- Has solid experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar role
- Can confidently run a section during service
- Takes pride in their food and presentation
- Has good knowledge of modern British cooking
- Is organised, reliable and calm under pressure
- Works well as part of a small team
- Has high standards and cares about consistency

- Brings a positive attitude to the kitchen every day
What we offer
- £28,000+ salary, depending on experience
- Approximately £5,000 in tips per year on top of salary
- 5-day working week
- A long afternoon break between preparation and evening service
- 5pm evening start
