Overview
SGP Contracts Limited is looking for a reliable Car & Van Driver to join our team in London. You will be responsible for the safe and timely collection and delivery of goods, materials and equipment to customer addresses and sites across London and the surrounding area.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is punctual, presentable and takes pride in doing the job properly. You will often be the face of the company to our customers, so a professional and courteous manner is essential.
Responsibilities
- Carry out daily multi-drop deliveries and collections across London and surrounding areas
- Load and unload the vehicle safely, checking goods against delivery notes and manifests
- Plan routes efficiently and adapt to changes in schedule during the day
- Obtain signatures, complete proof-of-delivery paperwork and keep accurate records
- Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects, damage or faults promptly
- Keep the vehicle clean, tidy, secure and roadworthy at all times
- Comply with all road traffic law, driver’s hours rules and company health and safety procedures
- Represent SGP Contracts Limited professionally when dealing with customers and site staff
- Communicate with the office throughout the day regarding delays, access issues or failed deliveries
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence, Category B, held for a minimum of 2 years
- Right to work in the UK
- Available to work Monday to Saturday
- Physically able to load, unload and handle deliveries, including some heavy or bulky items
- Good working knowledge of London roads and confident driving in busy urban traffic
- Reliable, punctual and able to work unsupervised
- Good spoken English and a polite, customer-facing manner
- Basic literacy and numeracy for completing delivery paperwork
Requirements — desirable
- Previous multi-drop or courier delivery experience
- Experience driving Luton, transit or long-wheelbase vans
- Manual handling training
- Familiarity with handheld delivery devices or route-planning apps
- Experience delivering to construction sites or trade counters
