We have an exciting opportunity for a Solicitor to join our well established and highly regarded Family Team in Leicester.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with drive and enthusiasm to further their career within family law, develop strong client relationships, and play an active role in the continued growth of our team. Our Family Team advises on all aspects of private family law, with particular strength in financial remedy proceedings, including cases involving complex assets. Clients consistently praise us for our professionalism, pragmatic advice and personal, empathetic approach.
You will work closely with experienced Directors and Partners, gaining exposure to a broad and interesting caseload, while being supported to develop both your technical expertise and your wider professional skills within a Legal 500 tier 1 recognised team. You will also be encouraged and supported to participate in business development and marketing activities, including networking, client events, articles and profile raising initiatives to help grow your own practice and the Family Team as a whole.
Some of your duties will include:
- Advising and assisting clients on a range of private family law matters, including divorce, financial remedy, cohabitation disputes and related children matters, ensuring a consistently high standard of client care (subject to professional and regulatory requirements)
- Managing client matters from initial instruction through to conclusion, taking responsibility for case progression, correspondence, billing and fee collection and preparing matters for hearings
- Drafting and reviewing legal documents, including court applications, statements and consent orders,
- Developing and implementing effective litigation strategies tailored to clients’ objectives, within professional and regulatory requirements
- Maintaining compliance with all file management and risk processes, including file audits and regulatory obligations
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Family Team and wider firm to promote the interests of Howes Percival
- Keeping clients informed with clear, timely and pragmatic advice throughout the lifecycle of their matter
- Updating and consulting with Directors and Partners as appropriate on case strategy and progress

- Consistently delivers work to an acceptable standard, with strong attention to detail and sound judgement
- Uses initiative and legal reasoning appropriately, while recognising when supervision or guidance is required
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of relevant family law principles and applies them effectively in practice
- Uses experience and judgement to assess and verify information provided by clients and third parties
- An excellent communicator, able to explain complex legal issues clearly and sensitively to clients
- Strong at building, maintaining and developing trusted client relationships, with a client focused and empathetic approach
