Outdoor Adventure Club Senior Leader / Forest School / Bush Craft
The aim of Off Grid Community's Adventure Clubs is to support children who are neurodivergent but who are able to keep themselves safe within the woods, with minimal supervision.
Activities within these sessions are Forest School/Bush craft style but not limited to this.
Term time hours: Saturday: 9.30 - 3pm
We support children who need emotional support to attend, rather than physical support.
We provide a varied learning experience, which takes into account all the different needs of the children within the group.
We focus on topics that are nature based, bringing in language, art, STEM, cooking and food growing. By providing a nurturing & compassionate environment, we will get the best out of the children and in turn they will get the best out of the sessions.
Leaders need to be able to change direction with activities quickly, and have a bank of accessible games to play with the group, when things are not working to plan.
The area we work in is self contained, but the safety still needs to be ensured, with Leaders being aware of where children are within that space.
The ratio in the woods is 1:6
Skills, Experience & Characteristics of Adventure Club Leader
- Having an innate interest in nature.
- Experience of planning, developing and delivering Forest School led activities or alternative learning activities i.e Art based
- Qualifications such as Forest School or Bush craft; Or qualifications/experience which in other subject areas which would work within a woodland area
- Demonstrating the ability to work with the interests of the group and providing a learning experience that is appropriate for their age and stage of development.
- Previous experience of working with children aged 5 - 12 who are neurodivergent
- The ability to work as a team but can plan and deliver learning experiences independently within a senior capacity
- The ability to manage a group effectively and appropriately for our context
- Passion for creating enriching learning experiences for children - learning areas can be flexible and will depend on the applicant’s interest and experience but examples are art, music, hands-on science, gardening / permaculture, earth science, bushcraft skills.
- Good planning and organisation skills
- Paediatric First Aid (preferred)
- Child Protection training
- A genuine compassionate nature, who understands the complexity of working with neurodivergent children
- Be able to work outdoors, all year round.

Pay: £14.00-£16.00 per hour
