Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic hospitality team. This vital role involves supporting the kitchen operations by maintaining cleanliness, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring a smooth workflow within a busy restaurant or hotel environment. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn and contribute to a high standard of service. Previous experience in food service or hospitality is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. Duties
- Responsible for cleaning and sanitising kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces to maintain hygiene standards.
- Assisting with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including washing vegetables, peeling, and organising ingredients.
- Supporting chefs and kitchen staff with various tasks to ensure efficient kitchen operations during service periods.
- Collecting and disposing of waste appropriately to uphold cleanliness throughout the premises.
- Restocking supplies and ensuring that all necessary ingredients and tools are readily available for chefs.
- Assisting with the organisation of storage areas, including fridges and dry stores, to ensure items are stored correctly.
- Adhering to health and safety regulations at all times, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Supporting serving staff during busy periods by helping with basic customer service tasks if required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality environments such as restaurants, hotels, or catering services is desirable but not essential.
- Knowledge of kitchen safety procedures and hygiene standards is advantageous.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- A positive attitude with strong teamwork skills and willingness to learn new skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
