Unlocking Language is an established paediatric speech and language therapy service that has been supporting children, young people and families for over 13 years.
Our mission is to make speech and language therapy accessible to families, providing high-quality, evidence-based intervention within our clinics and the wider community.
We are currently looking for Freelance Paediatric Speech & Language Therapists to join our growing clinical team and provide evening therapy sessions at our:
- Canary Wharf Clinic, London
- Brentwood Clinic, Essex
This is a clinic-based, intervention-focused role, working with children and young people aged approximately 2–16 years.
You will work with a varied paediatric caseload, which may include children with:
- Autism and social communication differences
- Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)
- Speech sound disorders
- Speech and language delay
- Developmental delay
- Down syndrome
- Learning disabilities
- Receptive and expressive language difficulties
- Attention and listening difficulties
- Social communication needs
- AAC and alternative communication needs
- Limited or no spoken language
- Early interaction and communication difficulties
- Vocabulary and sentence-building difficulties
As a Freelance Paediatric Speech & Language Therapist, you will:
- Deliver face-to-face one-to-one speech and language therapy.
- Provide engaging and individualised intervention based on each child’s therapy goals.
- Plan and adapt activities according to the child’s communication needs, age and interests.
- Deliver therapy sessions typically ranging from 30-45 minutes.
- Provide parents and carers with feedback and strategies to support communication at home.
- Complete clinical notes and relevant paperwork.
- Monitor children’s progress against agreed therapy targets.
- Maintain accurate and professional clinical documentation.
- Liaise with other members of the clinical team where required.
- Follow safeguarding, confidentiality and clinical governance procedures.
- Work in accordance with HCPC and RCSLT professional standards.
We are recruiting therapists who can provide regular evening availability:
Monday to Friday
4:00pm–7:00pm
Therapists can discuss which weekday evenings they are available to work.
We are looking for therapists who can provide a regular and consistent commitment, allowing children and families to maintain continuity with the same therapist.
£25 per hour
This is a freelance / self-employed position.
Our clinics are fully equipped for paediatric speech and language therapy.
Therapists will have access to our existing range of:
- Therapy resources and activities
- Toys and games
- Visual supports
- AAC and communication resources
- Speech sound resources
- Language intervention resources
- Clinical equipment
- Therapy rooms
You will therefore be able to focus on delivering high-quality intervention without needing to provide all of your own therapy materials.
You must:
- Hold a recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification.
- Be HCPC registered.
- Have an interest in working with children and young people.
- Be confident communicating with parents and carers.
- Be organised and able to maintain high-quality clinical documentation.
- Be reliable and able to commit consistently to agreed evening clinic hours.
- Have a good understanding of safeguarding and professional responsibilities.
Previous paediatric experience is desirable.
This is an opportunity to work within an established paediatric speech and language therapy service with a strong clinical team and access to well-resourced clinic environments.
The role offers flexibility for therapists who may already be working elsewhere during the day but would like to build additional paediatric clinical experience and income through regular evening work.
