Job Summary:
The Salvation Army, Southport operates a busy community coffee shop that plays a major role in the weekly mission activities of the church. The Coffee Shop provides a place where people can come together, enjoy food and build relationships in a safe and supportive environment. We are seeking an enthusiastic Part-Time Cook to take the lead in preparing and serving high-quality food whilst contributing to the warm and inclusive atmosphere that is the heart of our work. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about food, enjoys working with people and wants to be part of a vibrant team serving the local community.
Key Responsibilities:
The post holder will plan, prepare serve a range of nutritious and cost-effective meals and light refreshments to a consistently high standard. Develop menus that reflect customer preferences and cater for a range of nutritional, dietary and allergen requirements. Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness and hygiene, ensuring compliance with Environmental Health requirements and relevant regulations including Food Hygiene, COSHH and Health and Safety procedures. Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to ensure the smooth operation of the coffee shop. Support and supervise volunteers working in the kitchen, providing guidance and training where appropriate in collaboration with The Community Engagement Manager.
The successful candidate(s) will have:

Good knowledge and experience in preparing and serving food in a commercial kitchen environment.

Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage stock effectively.

Ability to influence and motivate others and develop positive working relationships with colleagues, volunteers, customers and external stakeholders.

Be proficient in both spoken and written English.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
