About Shrub
Shrub is a seasonal fruit and vegetable wholesaler supplying some of the best restaurants, chefs and hospitality businesses across London, Brighton, Sussex and the surrounding areas.
We work closely with a network of British farms and growers, connecting chefs with exceptional produce while building a more transparent, seasonal and resilient food system.
Customer service sits at the centre of what we do. Our customers operate in fast-moving kitchens, and they rely on us to be accurate, responsive and dependable.
We are looking for a Night Customer Service Representative to support the business during our evening ordering and delivery preparation period.
The Role
The Night Customer Service Representative will be responsible for ensuring customer orders are accurately entered and ready for the warehouse and delivery teams.
You'll work closely with our Customer Service, Warehouse and Delivery teams to make sure orders, routes and courier bookings are correctly organised before our overnight operation gets underway.
This is an important operational role. Accuracy and reliability are essential - mistakes made during the evening can directly affect what arrives at a restaurant the following morning.
The role would suit someone who is organised, comfortable working independently and able to remain calm and accurate in a busy environment.
Key Responsibilities
Order Entry
- Receive and process customer orders accurately.
- Make amendments to existing orders where necessary.
- Ensure all orders are processed before the relevant operational deadlines.
- Flag product, stock or customer issues to the appropriate team.
Delivery Routing
- Check that customers have been assigned to the correct route and delivery day.
- Communicate changes clearly with the warehouse and delivery teams.
- Ensure delivery information, notes, access instructions and other relevant details are accurate.
Courier Booking
- Book third-party couriers where required.
Customer Service
- Respond to customer messages during the evening shift.
- Help customers with order amendments, availability questions and delivery queries.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with chefs and restaurant teams.
Evening Handover
A major part of the role is making sure the overnight operation starts with accurate information.
What We're Looking For
You don't necessarily need previous experience in produce or food wholesaling, but you do need to be highly organised and dependable.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has excellent attention to detail.
- Is confident working with computers and online systems.
- Can process information quickly without sacrificing accuracy.
- Communicates clearly in writing and over the phone.
- Is comfortable dealing directly with customers.
- Can prioritise when several things need attention at once.
- Is able to work independently during the later part of the evening.
- Takes responsibility for identifying and resolving mistakes.
- Understands the importance of accurate order entry and operational handovers.
- Is comfortable working in a fast-moving hospitality environment.
Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, logistics, food wholesale, order processing or delivery operations would be useful but is not essential.
What Good Looks Like
Success in this role means:
- Orders are entered accurately and on time.
- Very few order-entry errors reach the warehouse or customer.
- Delivery routes are accurate and ready for the overnight team.
- Courier bookings are made correctly and efficiently.
- Customer messages are dealt with promptly.
- Problems are identified and escalated rather than ignored.
- The warehouse and delivery teams receive a clear evening handover.
- You can increasingly manage the evening operation independently.
Why Join Shrub?
You'll join a growing business that works with some of the most respected restaurants in the UK.
We care deeply about seasonality, sourcing and doing things properly.
This is an opportunity to become part of a close-knit team where you'll have genuine ownership, build meaningful relationships with exceptional chefs and play a key role in shaping the next stage of Shrub's growth.
If you're passionate about restaurants, thrive on building relationships and want to work with produce you're proud to sell, we'd love to hear from you.
