Strategic Regions for Change:
Currently, training for IMS1 doctors is overseen by TPDs who cover distinct sectors within the Deanery. After reflection, it is felt that a redesign of the system would be helpful both for educator development and ongoing resident doctor support:
Creation of a Lead TPD to lead the service and assist with educator development especially of those new to TPD or ES roles.
Development of robust governance procedures around ARCPs
Creating TPD leads who will focus on support after periods out of training and improving the working lives of doctors (including robust and equitable processes around the management of less than full time working).
Creating a team structure that allows peaks and roughs of activity to be managed
Presence at teaching days to further help resolve queries in a timely way
Provide a structure that allows a point of contact in the event of an urgent matter arising
This will be the first hub to be developed.
IMT3 TPD and Lead of ACF
1. Run regional IMT3 teaching sessions for Manchester Sector
2. Coordinate ARCP for all three years, including out of sync trainees
3. Meeting out of sync trainees to plan timetables/SuppoRTT
4. Oversight of training amendments
5. Arrange face to face interim ARCPs with trainees
NHS England has a wide range of statutory functions, responsibilities and regulatory powers. These are focused on supporting the wider NHS to deliver high quality care, as well as doing those things that are best done once for the whole NHS.
Our staff bring expertise across clinical, operational, commissioning, technology, data science, cyber security, software engineering, education, and commercial specialisms — enabling us to design and deliver high-quality NHS services.
In March 2025, the Government announced that NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care will increasingly merge functions, ultimately leading to NHS England being fully integrated into the department.
If you currently work within the NHS and if successful at interview, we will initiate an Inter Authority Transfer (IAT) via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR). This retrieves key data from your current or previous NHS employer to support onboarding, including competency status, Continuous Service Dates (CSD), and annual leave entitlement. You may opt out at any stage of the process.
Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in our offices.
We cannot offer visa sponsorship for any vacancies.
Work in collaboration with Head of School of Medicine to develop and implement a Medical Workforce Strategy which supports the recruitment and retention of Internal Medicine Stage One Training Trainees with focus on the regional education programs.
Develop ideas that will improve the working lives of doctors and maximize enjoyment whilst in training positions.
You can find further details about the role, including key responsibilities and accountabilities, alongside the organisational structure and person specification in the attached Job Description and other supporting documents.
