Reaseheath College is a forward thinking and dynamic College providing an excellent educational experience to over 4,500 students a year. The Academy of Work, Land and Life at Reaseheath College is seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our growing Supported Internship team.
Supported Internships provide a vital pathway into employment for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), enabling them to develop workplace skills and achieve successful employment outcomes. Working closely with learners, employers, families and external agencies, you will play a key role in helping learners realise their aspirations and maximise their independence.
About the role
This is a rewarding opportunity to support learners in a variety of workplace settings across Cheshire, helping them develop the skills, behaviours and confidence required for employment.
The successful candidate will provide tailored one-to-one support using person-centred approaches and Training in Systematic Instruction (TSI) principles. You will work closely with employers to facilitate positive workplace experiences, promote inclusive employment practices and support learners to achieve their EHCP and Preparation for Adulthood outcomes.
The role requires flexibility and the ability to travel regularly to employer sites across Cheshire and surrounding areas to provide workplace-based support, learner reviews, travel training and employer liaison.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality job coaching support to learners participating in Supported Internships.
- Undertake vocational profiling, job matching and job carving activities to support progression into employment.
- Use systematic instruction techniques to teach workplace tasks and progressively fade support to promote independence.
- Support learners to develop workplace skills, communication, confidence and employability behaviours.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with employers to support successful placements and employment outcomes.
- Monitor learner progress against EHCP outcomes, Preparation for Adulthood targets and individual goals.
- Maintain accurate learner records, progress reports and placement documentation.
- Travel throughout Cheshire and surrounding areas to provide workplace-based support, reviews and employer liaison.
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience of supporting young people and/or adults with SEND.
- Demonstrate an understanding of Supported Internships, Supported Employment and Preparation for Adulthood outcomes.
- Have excellent communication, organisational and relationship-building skills.
- Be confident working independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.
- Have experience of employer engagement and supporting individuals within workplace settings.
- Hold, or be willing to undertake, Training in Systematic Instruction (TSI).
- Understand person-centred approaches and the importance of promoting learner independence.
- Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle with appropriate business insurance.
