The Role:
The successful candidate will assist the Site Manager/supervisors to manage the fleet operation in the yard.
Reporting to – Supervisor, Site Manager and Transport Manager. Direct reports – FLT Operatives.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of FLT drivers.
- Ensure wagons are tipped and loaded correctly and efficiently.
- Sign off despatch paperwork.
- Ensure that the yard remains tidy with organised timber and pallet bays.
- Work alongside the Supervisor/Manager and relieve them of tasks in the yard.
- Improve yard processes, resolve issues and create effective solutions.
Knowledge, skills and experience.
Essential
· Knowledge of yard Safe Operating Procedures
· Good practical understanding of H & S.
· Team player, with good communication skills.
· Well-organised and conscious with a flexible approach
· Ability to challenge the status quo.
· Computer literate (experience of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook).
· It is a mandatory you hold a certified and in date Counter Balance Fork Lift Truck Licence
· Good communication skills
· The ability to work as part of a team and have the ability to work on your own initiative as and when required.
· This role will require compliance to health and safety procedures and written work instructions.
· The successful candidates must have the ability to reasonably communicate in English as well as comprehend written instructions.
· Health and safety forms a large part of the culture at James Jones. It is mandatory whilst working on site you adhere to all safe systems of work and wear or use all personal protective equipment issued to you within designated areas.
