Beacon Park Boats based at Llangattock, are seeking a boatyard maintenance assistant to join our friendly team. Working daily to uphold the running and maintenance of our fleet of eighteen 5 star rated luxury holiday narrow boats and 10 dayboats, all located on the beautiful Monmouthshire and Brecon canal.
This is a full time position, with two working patterns: during the holiday season March to October, you will be required to work every Monday Friday and Saturday and 2 remaining days as per rota.
During the out of holiday season November to March we work a standard 5 day week with weekends off.
Once trained you will be required to undertake on call duties 24/7 on a week on week off basis during the holiday season, assisting and repairing any problems the customers may have during their holiday.
We are looking for someone with excellent practical skills able to turn a hand to anything asked.
Proven experience of mechanical, electrical and plumbing skills would be an advantage although not essential as full training is provided on the job.
As no two days are ever the same the most important qualities we are looking for are enthusiasm, the willingness to learn and to roll up ones sleeves and get the job done.
You will need to be very hard working and organised, in return we offer a competitive salary. We provide a van for your on-call week. But should the van not be available for any reason you must be willing to use your own vehicle to visit a boat on the canal at any time whilst on call.
Living in the local area within a 20 mile radius of Llangattock NP8 1EQ i.e. between Newport and Brecon, close to the canal, would be preferred, due to callouts being along the canal.
