We are launching a brand-new adult musical theatre group in Peterborough and are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and inspiring Musical Theatre Teacher to lead weekly classes and help build a vibrant performing arts community.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape a new company from the ground up, working with adults of mixed abilities who share a passion for musical theatre, performance and creativity.
The Role
The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging weekly musical theatre sessions for adults, developing participants’ skills in:
- Acting through song
- Vocal performance and ensemble singing
- Characterisation and storytelling
- Movement and basic choreography
- Stagecraft and performance techniques
- Confidence building and teamwork
Participants will work towards end-of-year showcases and performances, providing exciting opportunities to perform in front of an audience.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver fun, inclusive and high-quality musical theatre classes
- Create a supportive environment suitable for adults of varying experience levels
- Develop performance material for showcases and productions
- Rehearse and prepare cast members for public performances
- Encourage creativity, confidence and personal development
- Work collaboratively with the company to help grow and develop the programme
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience teaching or directing musical theatre
- Has strong skills in singing, acting and/or movement
- Is passionate about adult arts education
- Can inspire and motivate performers of all abilities
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills
- Is reliable, enthusiastic and creative
Relevant qualifications in performing arts, music, drama or teaching are desirable but not essential if supported by significant practical experience.
