Shore Pharmacy is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and compassionate individual to join our team as a Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) Apprentice.
This is an excellent opportunity to earn while you learn, gaining a nationally recognised qualification and developing the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours needed to become a registered Pharmacy Technician.
Working alongside experienced pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and the wider multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will support the safe and effective delivery of pharmacy services while completing an approved apprenticeship programme.
As an independent community pharmacy, Shore Pharmacy works closely with the local GP practice and other healthcare professionals to support patients and deliver high-quality, person-centred care. This provides an excellent opportunity to experience collaborative working across primary care and gain a broad understanding of healthcare services.
Location: Community Pharmacy - Shore Pharmacy
Contract: Fixed-term, apprenticeship (approximatley 24 months)
Salary: Competitive, in line with apprenticeship rates and experience
What You'll Do
As a PTPT Apprentice, you will:
- Support the safe dispensing of medicines under appropriate supervision.
- Provide excellent customer service and patient care.
- Learn about the actions of medicines on the body and why they are prescribed.
- Develop clinical skills to help deliver professional pharmacy services.
- Learn about medicines optimisation and a range of community pharmacy services.
- Learn about the different roles within healthcare and how they work together to provide patient care.
- Learn about the legal requirements relating to the sale and supply of medicines.
- Assist with stock control, ordering and the management of medicines.
- Work collaboratively with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and other healthcare professionals across primary care.
- Complete all apprenticeship learning, coursework and end-point assessment requirements.
- Develop the professional knowledge and practical skills required for registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, including apprenticeship training and protected study time.
- Hold four GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above), including: Maths, English Language, Science and one other subject
Be eligible for apprenticeship funding by:
- Being aged 16 or over (there is no upper age limit).
- Having been resident in the UK for at least three years.
- If you require a visa, having permission to remain in the UK for the full duration of the apprenticeship.
- Be willing to enrol with Buttercups (or another approved training provider) and successfully complete all onboarding requirements.
Successful applicants must be employed and fully enrolled with the training provider, with an apprenticeship start date no later than 30 September 2026. Please note that the training provider's onboarding process can take four weeks or longer, so early applications are strongly encouraged.
