.Maintenance Engineer
Location: Sutton in Ashfield
Working hours: Days - 39 hours a week
We are looking for a practical and proactive Maintenance Engineer to take ownership of the maintenance and reliability of industrial equipment.
This is a hands-on position involving planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs, servicing and machinery improvements. You will also help coordinate the day-to-day activities of production operatives, ensuring work is completed safely and in accordance with standard operating procedures and agreed performance targets.
Key responsibilities
- Complete planned preventative maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out hands-on repairs
- Ensure machinery operates safely, reliably and at optimum performance.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process failures to minimise production downtime.
- Complete root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring faults.
- Create, manage and improve preventative maintenance schedules.
- Source spare parts and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Support the selection, installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Coordinate machinery installation and improvement projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability and operating costs.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, maintenance records and risk assessments.
- Record machine downtime, servicing, repairs and other relevant operational information.
- Provide technical support and training to production operatives.
- Coordinate daily tasks and ensure production and quality standards are maintained.
- Support the team in achieving agreed KPIs.
- Maintain excellent health, safety and housekeeping standards.
Skills and experience
- Previous maintenance experience within a production, recycling, manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience working with medium-sized production machinery.
- Practical mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
- Experience completing routine machinery servicing and preventative maintenance.
- Good knowledge of health and safety within a production environment.
- Ability to produce or follow SOPs and risk assessments.
- Strong hands-on problem-solving skills.
- Good planning, organisation and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records using Microsoft Excel.
- Confidence supporting and coordinating a small team of operatives.
