Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse specialising in Chemotherapy to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will provide specialised nursing care to patients undergoing chemotherapy treatments, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being throughout their treatment journey. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide safe and effective nursing care to patients receiving chemotherapy/SACT
- Administer systemic anti-cancer treatments in accordance with local policies and clinical guidelines
- Monitor patients before, during and after treatment
- Recognise and respond appropriately to treatment-related side effects and complications
- Undertake clinical assessments and monitor patients’ conditions
- Provide patient education, advice and emotional support
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures
- Ensure medicines are administered safely
- Escalate clinical concerns appropriately
- Maintain professional standards and patient confidentiality
- Support the delivery of high-quality cancer nursing services
- Provide specialist nursing support and advice to patients and their families
- Work closely with the Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist and wider MDT
- Undertake clinical assessments and contribute to individualised care planning
- Support the coordination of patient care across relevant cancer pathways
- Provide education, information and emotional support to patients
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure effective communication across the MDT
- Assist with the provision of specialist clinical leadership within the service
- Ensure care is delivered in accordance with relevant clinical guidelines and local policies
Requirements:
- Current NMC Registered Nurse status
- Relevant oncology/cancer nursing experience
- Appropriate specialist cancer nursing experience for the Band 6 role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Up-to-date mandatory training
- Enhanced DBS
- Available to work Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:30
- Flexibility for occasional weekend working and/or on-call duties by exception
